3rd Annual APTS Christmas Mile
Is it that time of year again. Join us for the 3rd Annual APTS Christmas Mile Tuesday Dec 15th and / or Wednesday Dec 16th. Do not miss the action!
If you have been at training this week you are primed and ready for the Miracle Mile. You know your splits (time per 200m) and have heard the hype.
Here are the frequently asked questions about the Magnificent Mile that I have received from the hundreds of curious (possible) participants.
Q.What is the world record? A.Don't worry about it.
Q.How do I prepare? A.Track work that pushes your aerobic thresholds. In simple terms run hard and give yourself rest.....then repeat.
Q.What are the prizes? A.Working on it but candy canes are likely
Q.Will I give everything I have. A. Yes
Q.Do I carbo load? A.Not needed
Q.Will it be epic? A.Absolutely
I hope that clears up some questions. This race is rich in history and a truly wonderful display of sport in Edmonton.
Again everyone is welcome either day (or both days). Bring a smile, race gear, big dreams, and no power gel.
Its going to be awesome. Happy Holidays!

Shannon takes second xmas Mile.
Sorry this one is so late but the excitement needed time to die down.
Shannon took another xmas mile running just four seconds slower in her second attempt at the over hyped xmas mile. She was a little tired from the previous mile and the bike the night prior. Congrats Shannon.
Karen ran her first xmas mile ripping through seven laps and having her best time in the mile event. Not since Landy, Bannister, and Santee (three athletes that chased the elusive 4 min mile) have we had so much excitement surrounding the one mile event.
The next BIG APTS event will be the indoor 3km. Date TBA.

SHANNON CRUSHES CHRISTMAS MILE.
In thrilling fashion Shannon came and conquered the Christmas Mile. One onlooker described Shannon, "as powerful as Dancer and Prancer combined". Being way too excited to start Shannon took the warm-up to sip her coffee, appreciate the winter morning and think about taking down her competition.
After some basic pacing drills and the clicks of the cameras from the mass of media, the 3rd Annual APTS Christmas Mile was off. Shannon shot to the lead of the Female Race and held on for dear life. She looked comfortable and composed. The crowd that had assmembled at the finish lone spoke her name in a hush tone. The laps went by and Shannon extedned her lead in the Womens Race getting faster and faster as the field got further and further away. Solo Gi Nutrition came on as a late sponsor and Shannon was out to impress the young Canadian company. 1 lap to go and the lead safe Shannon just focussed on getting under 4minutes (actually six minutes but four is a better story) and finally success as Shannon came through with the victory and posting a GREAT TIME.
Final Times and Placings
Christmas Mile Champ Adam 5:20,Chrstmas Mile Second Place Graham 5:20.01, Chrstmas Mile Third Place Chris 5:21, Chrstmas Mile Fourth Place James, Chrstmas Mile James, Chrstmas Mile Fifth Place SHANNON (5:52), Chrstmas Mile Sixth Chris Wielki, Chrstmas Mile Seventh Spot Daryl.
Tomorrow it all happens again. Congrats to all.......don't miss the action tomorrow.
