Aerobic Power and TCR kick off their 4th Annual Andorphine Daze IM Prep Camp.
Campers began in our beautiful outdoor lab for some C-Prit testing which will take place again on Friday at the end of camp and then the 3 following weeks. ( i will get pictures on, promise)Campers get to learn about the affects the training volume by the end of camp and then the positive adaptations for the weeks following camp as they let their bodies recover. From this campers will also gain insight into their ideal taper lengths, as i think we are all discovering 1 size does not fit all. There is a super team of coaches and excited grad students bringin campers experience and cutting edge science.
Following testing which kicked off the day campers worekd through some very handy open swim skills in ragin white caps. Fortuntely not long before the finish winds turned into serious gusts literally throwing sand and bags off the beach across the street. Fortunately they dies down enough later in the day for a super bike skills session and a spin to Naramata beofre the serious IM work begins tommorrow in the water.

I had such great intentions to be writing every night from Phoenix where I was attending a Mentorship Program through the Athlete’s Performance Center, one of the most famous and highly regarded training facilities and programs in North America and Europe. It was their Rehabilittion Program not their Performance Program so I was at times out of my comfort zone during our clinic sessions sitting in the middle of many athletic therapists, and physiotherapists. I ventured out into unknown territory again continuing my self development in the technical and injury preventative area for endurance sports. As part of the rehab program though we also took in some performance sessions, run development, plyometrics, strength training and active isolated stretching to name a few. This was fun and content I have already stated to incorporate with the Aerobic Power athletes.

Unfortunately in endurance sport the little things take time to add up making the completion of goals, at times feel like a lengthy process, for some less successful, to long a process. Those that see it through however are greatly rewarded.

It's Sunday now and we sadly put the last of our warm weather cycling gear in our suit cases in preparation for our long trip home. The worst part is the news of more snow and indoor riding back home. We came off of two great final days with huge personal accomplishments and a great wrap party in beautiful Cala Figuera that always includes some cliff jumping to kick off the evening.

How fast your time in Spain flies by. We are just finishing our week 2 day off, here now on Thursday. This one was much more needed by all after some fabuously challenging rides over the last 3 days. We are also looking pretty genious with the schedule to for after an amazing hot and sunny day yesterday for the epic ride, today we woke up to drizzle which slowly increased to a down pour as the day went on. What to do? Well after a conversation about moountain biking with one of the guides here, Dieter, that was quickly turned into a trail running idea. I decided to find company and go run a trail to a monestary.

"I wanted to thank you for your help earlier in the year with my IT Band injury. I finished the Sinister 7 and Deathrace this year healthy with no IT Band issues. I actually believe the second leg I completed in the Sinister 7 pushed my glute medius into finally working properly. I really believe the workouts you provided me made the difference this year and I wanted to thank you. To be honest, I didn’t know or necessarily believe I’d be alright after the Deathrace since for the last two years it’s signalled the end of the season for me. Now, I’m in uncharted waters. I haven’t been this healthy since 2006. I want to go after my Boston Marathon Qualifying time." |
